A new feature on Caterpillar loading shovels tells the driver when they have filled the bucket properly, reports The Construction Index, 22 November 2016.
The management system’s tip-off capability increases machine productivity by telling the operator there is sufficient weight in the bucket before leaving the pile that is being shovelled.
Facilitating efficiency
The systems give operators the ability to
- place the proper amount of material in the mixer, hopper or truck the first time, every time, thus reducing the number of cycles, to maximise profit potential.
- set the target loading weight and monitor the cumulative amount of material loaded into a truck or hopper, which helps to prevent overloading.
- print (via the available system printer) up to three copies of a recorded weight ticket.
The system also includes a VisionLink system which allows the site manager to track information including the amount of material moved and number of trucks loaded.
Available now on most models
This new Caterpillar Payload Management system is available with the new touchscreen displays on Cat small wheeled loader models.
It is one of a series of recent engineering enhancements to the Stage IV Cat M Series small wheeled loaders (SWL) – 926M, 930M and 938M, as well as the K Series models (924K, 930K, 938K).
